The long-awaited Chicago premiere of Dusty Groove: The Sound of Transition was held February 28, 2020 at The Chicago Cultural Center. This screening was a featured event for Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s Year of Chicago Music. Thank you to all who came out!

We were honored to have several special guests from the documentary in attendance. They included all three of Grady Johnson’s children, who appear in the film alongside their father, and jazz DJ Al Carter-Bey who hosts a “Jazz in the Alley” turntable battle in the film. Main documentary participant Rick Wojcik and Director Danielle Beverly were also there for Q&A.

It’s finally happening!

The long-awaited Chicago premiere of Dusty Groove: The Sound of Transition will be at Chicago’s Cultural Center on February 28th at 7pm. The documentary is being showcased as part of the Year of Chicago Music, a citywide initiative sponsored by The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.
